PEN+PINE'S SERVICES

Are you looking for an original drawing for your event, business, or for personal use? I draw memorable illustrations to suit client's needs: t-shirts, illustrated maps, holiday cards, custom house illustrations, and more. I've worked with clients across the country on a variety of projects. Review my pricing, then contact me with your project idea to get the conversation started.

I specialize in working with first-timers and newbies- those who are new to hiring an illustrator, and who may not even really know what they want. I emphasize communication and collaboration to bring your ideas to fruition. Before jumping into a project I sit down to brainstorm, review ideas, and clarify your timeline, budget, and goals. I work to ensure you are comfortable with the process, the idea, and most importantly the price, before moving forward with the project. I will bring your ideas to life, even if you only have a vague feeling of what you want.

OVERVIEW OF DESIGN PROCESS

Each project is unique, but the process usually tends to follow a similar path. When you hire me to work on a custom project, here is what you can expect:

  • Consultation: It all begins with a conversation, either in person, on zoom, or over the phone. This first meeting is an opportunity to learn as much as I can about you, your project, and your wants and needs. We will discuss what you are looking for in your design, including inspiration, other designs you love, and precisely how it will be used. We will also talk about the general timeline, including when you need the finished product by.

  • Quote: once I have a good understanding of what you want, I will provide you with a quote for the project. At this point, you can decide if you want to hire me for your project.

  • Agreement & Timeline: I will send you a detailed agreement that outlines the specific pieces you've agreed on, the cost, and other important considerations. I will also provide a timeline which will highlight all of the steps needed to bring the design to life, including dates of proofs, printing, and other deadlines to help keep the project on track. The timeline includes helpful dates for both me and you (the client). If this all looks good, you will give me the thumbs up to begin the project and send your down payment (generally 50% of project costs).

  • Design Phase: Now, I head into the studio to draw up a number of unique ideas based on our conversation. These initial designs will be shared digitally via email. At this point, you will let me know if I am on the right track, or if I should make changes to the general design direction.

  • Revisions: I will provide a second round of design proofs based on your feedback. This process will be repeated until you are satisfied (most projects take 2-3 rounds of revisions). If any additional hours are needed beyond what was indicated in the agreement, I will check in before continuing.

  • Completion: Congratulations, your illustration is done! At this point, any additional details, including printing, assembly, and shipping will be coordinated. At completion of your project, the remainder of your payment will be due.
